HEAP Winter Crisis Results

By Nick Pruitt

In 2024, HEAP Winter Crisis stepped in to aid 653 households, offering over $264,000 in assistance for utilities, bulk fuel, and furnace repairs. This marks a significant increase from the support provided to 518 households, totaling $212,000, in 2023. The HEAP Summer Crisis program is set to commence on 7/1/2024.

Amidst the challenges of inflation and escalating utility expenses, PICCA's HEAP and PIPP initiatives remain steadfast in supporting families in distress. The 2024 HEAP application cycle, which kicked off on 9/1/2023, has already assisted 1,108 households, surpassing the total from 2023 by six households. Additionally, the PIPP program continues to offer stable billing assistance, with case managers enrolling 358 households within the program's first three months.

The Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program concluded on 3/31/2024. Since its inception in 2021, the LIHWAP program has furnished nearly $140,000 in water utility aid to residents in need across Pickaway County.
